Diplomático Planas Rum is a masterclass in breaking traditional rum categories, offering the intense complexity of an aged dark rum hidden behind a brilliant, crystal-clear appearance. Named after the picturesque valley where the distillery sits, Planas is a unique blend of column and pot-still rums aged for up to six years in ex-bourbon and white oak casks before being meticulously charcoal-filtered to remove color.

Bottled at a robust 47% ABV, Planas delivers a surprisingly rich, weighty, and silky mouthfeel that far surpasses standard unaged white spirits. It features an intricate flavor profile loaded with fresh tropical fruit, creamy coconut, roasted coffee, and delicate vanilla. It is an essential luxury bottle for high-end mixology or sophisticated neat sipping across Nairobi.

Tasting Profile & Characteristics:

Appearance: Crystal clear with brilliant, sparkling clarity.

Aroma: Fresh tropical fruit and sweet coconut transitioning into deeper notes of ground coffee, rich vanilla, and a subtle pastry-like creaminess.

Palate: Silky, rich, and fruit-forward on entry, unfolding layers of ripe banana, coconut cream, cappuccino, and light, nutty undertones.

Finish: Delicate yet pronounced, leaving a warm, clean trail of white pepper and a faint echo of toasted oak.

Best Ways to Serve & Mix:

Sipping Neat or Over Ice: Pour over a single large crystal-clear ice sphere to open up its complex 6-year aromatics without diluting its powerful 47% structure.

The Elevated Daiquiri: Shake vigorously with fresh lime juice and simple syrup over ice to let its rich aged backbone punch cleanly through citrus.

Luxury Tropical Mixers: Use as a decadent base for high-end cocktails where standard unaged white rums fall flat.
