VAT 69 is a legendary, time-tested name in the world of Scotch whisky, carrying a rich heritage that famously included accompanying polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton on his 1914 Antarctic expedition. Created by William Sanderson, who famously tested 69 different cask blends before selecting the ultimate vat, this accessible classic combines a harmonious mix of roughly 40 malt and grain whiskies. Celebrated for its smooth, friendly character and zero rough edges, VAT 69 remains an absolute staple for house parties, casual hangouts, and reliable high-volume mixing across Nairobi.

Bottled at 40% ABV in its historic, distinctive pinched bottle style, VAT 69 pours with a bright, warm golden-amber hue. It greets the nose with a fresh, inviting bouquet of sweet caramel, vanilla cream, soft malt, and a light trace of pleasant fruitiness. On the palate, it is smooth, light-to-medium-bodied, and welcoming, unfolding delicate layers of honey, butterscotch, gentle warm spice, and a faint whisper of smoke. Concluding in a clean, crisp, and satisfying medium finish, VAT 69 is an essential, budget-friendly must-have for home bars and rapid party restocking across Nairobi.
